2022 has barely begun, but we are already seeing international jewelry shows postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the omicron variant.
The VicenzaOro and T. Gold shows, meant to take place Jan. 21–26 in Vicenza, Italy, have been postponed to March 17–21.
VO Vintage, originally scheduled for January 22–24, also in Vicenza, has been rescheduled to March 18–20.
“Current pandemic indicators do not allow a significant visit both from Italy and from abroad, thus making it impossible to hold a trade fair event that can satisfy exhibitors and visitors,” said a statement from the Italian Exhibition Group, the shows’ organizer.
In addition, the IIJS Signature show, originally scheduled for January 6–9 at the Jio World Centre, in Mumbai, India, has been postponed.
This was intended to be the show’s first year at the Jio World Centre.
Its organizer, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, said it has voluntarily decided to reschedule the annual event to later in the year, after consulting with exhibitors, travelers, trade associations, and the Indian government.
The IIJS held its first post-pandemic show in September 2021.
In December, the New York City events that traditionally comprise 24 Karat Weekend—including Jewelers of America’s Gem Awards, the annual banquet of the 24 Karat Club of the City of New York, and the Jewelers Vigilance Committee and Jewelers’ Security Alliance luncheons—were rescheduled to March.
