The 24 Karat Club of the City of New York plans to hold its 2022 event at Cipriani South Street, marking the first time in modern history the event will be held downtown.
The glitzy, black-tie dinner—the capper of a weekend of events that traditionally helps the industry ring in the new year—has been held for most of its history at the Waldorf Astoria in midtown Manhattan. However, in 2016, that location announced it was closing for renovations, leaving the event temporarily homeless. In 2020, the dinner was held at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel, in midtown, following two years at the New York Hilton, also in midtown.
The event was not held this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The downtown Cipriani has recently been remodeled and features a variety of event spaces, including separate pre-function rooms, a loggia balcony, and a historic great hall with its original skylight, said a statement from the 24 Karat Club.
“This new venue promises an elegant evening for all 24 Karat Club members and their guests,” said Edward N. DeCristofaro, president of the 24 Karat Club of the City of New York, in the same statement. “After a long and challenging time, we are excited to plan this in-person event and to provide an iconic New York experience.”
The 2022 event will mark the club’s 120th anniversary.
More information on the event can be seen on the group’s site.
