New York—Mikimoto opened its new flagship boutique in New York City, betting big on the city’s retail outlook amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The cultured pearl purveyor moved two doors down from its former boutique on Fifth Avenue, settling into a two-story, 3,500 square foot space.
Mikimoto is in good company, located near fellow jewelers like Tiffany & Co. and Bulgari.
The store is inspired by the brand’s global flagship in Japan, complementing its pearl-centric design with a New York seascape theme.

The space will feature a high jewelry showcase wall and display one-of-a-kind pieces for the first time in the U.S.
It will also carry collections exclusive to the boutique, including the “Mikimoto Loves NY” collection as well as classic pieces.
It will also have luxury non-jewelry merchandise available, like pearl picture frames, pens, scarves, and a jewelry box.
The company noted the concerns expressed about the vitality of New York City retail in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, but doesn’t share them.
