Potential sponsors and exhibitors of HourUniverse, a brand new show for watches and jewellery at the same Basel exhibition center that housed Baselworld, have been told that it may move from its current dates of April 8-12 to June.
The last communication with WatchPro from MCH Group, on January 14, said the organiser is: “monitoring the current health situation and assessing all realistic possible dates to safely hold the live show in 2021. As we are still at an early stage of our deliberations we have nothing concrete to communicate”.
The art fair’s global director Marc Spiegler said he expected the covid vaccination program to make September a realistic option.
“Following 10 months of vaccination programs in many countries, we anticipate broad international participation in our Basel show in September, because all our conversations within the art world indicate a strong desire to see art in person and engage face-to-face with the global cultural scene,” he suggests.
LVMH Watch Week, which launched as a spectacular show in Dubai in January 2020, takes place next week as a virtual event.
Watches and Wonders Geneva, home to Richemont’s maisons along with Rolex, Patek Philippe, Chanel, Tudor and Chopard, has also been moved online in April.
