Russian mining giant Alrosa raked in $11.9 million from the international auction of special size rough diamonds (over 10.8 carats) held in Vladivostok. The miner plans two more auctions for special size rough diamonds in Vladivostok this year.
Alrosa sold 123 rough diamonds with the total weight of 2,205 carats. Auction participants came from India, Israel, UAE and Belgium, according to a press release.
Evgeny Agureev, Deputy CEO of Alrosa, commented: “This year’s first auction at our Far Eastern trading site generated good results. The participants purchased over 70% of all the auctioned rough diamonds”.
