30 - 10 - 2019 GJEPC Opens First Ever Gem and Jewellery Export Facilitation Centre in Delhi

The Gem and Jewellery Export Facilitation Centre, a first-ever initiative of its kind, was inaugurated today by Smt. Rupa Dutta, Economic Adviser, Department of Commerce in the presence of Shri Senthil Nathan S., Dy Secy. Ministry of Commerce, Shri Pramod Agrawal, GJEPC Chairman, Shri Ashok Seth, GJEPC’s Northern Regional Chairman, Shri Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC and other senior officials and members of the trade.

The setting up of this centre is one of the key proactive initiatives bring taken by the GJEPC to boost the export of gems and jewellery products. The centre will provide assistance to exporters with regard to various government policies, as well as facilitate promotion and marketing.

It will further help in strengthening trade relationships and will assist the gems and jewellery member exporters in the field of export facilitation in the long run.

At the inauguration, Smt. Rupa Dutt said, “The gem and jewellery industry is a bright star of the economy, contributing 7% to India’s total GDP and employing 5 million people. Considering the skill and capabilities that we have in India, the gem and jewellery exports have a huge potential to grow. Today, it is a US$ 40 billion export industry and GJEPC has played an important role in taking the gem and jewellery industry to the stature that it enjoys today. GJEPC has been facilitating trade with its various initiatives, whether its promotional, infrastructure, skill development, etc. With its first-ever Facilitation Center, I am sure the trade members would take advantage of this facility to grow their business and ultimately increase exports.”

Commenting on the Council’s latest initiative, Shri Pramod Agrawal said, “Over the years, GJEPC has been taking a host of initiatives to facilitate gem and jewellery trade and business. Facilitation Centre will act as a platform for our member exporters to organise meetings with their buyers from across the world, thus improve their network and build trade relationship. 80-90% of the industry is MSMEs and the facilitation centre would be a great opportunity for our members, especially MSME members to invite clients and have business meetings in a comfortable and relaxed environment. I urge every GJEPC member to take advantage of this facilitation centre and grow their business.”
